McLaren's performance 'embarrassing' - Button
Jenson Button said McLaren's performance at the Spanish Grand Prix was embarrassing after the team failed to make much progress over the weekend.
McLaren's difficult start to the season continued in Spain with Button qualifying 14th, dropping to 17th at the start and eventually coming back to eighth at the end of the race. He said it was embarrassing to be so far down the order when so many fans are showing up at the circuits to support the team.
"I saw a lot of McLaren rocket red caps and shirts out there and it's actually a little bit embarrassing for us because we are not doing a good enough job," he said. "But we'll get there and I have to thank them for the support. We'll hopefully have a full crowd in Silverstone."
Button said it was too early to judge if the updates had made a difference but is hoping more new parts in Monaco will help.
"There's a lot of work still needed," he added. "Some of the speed that some of the cars came past me with ... I know they were on a different strategy but there's still a lot of work to do. We got a lot of useful information today with the parts on the car and there are more new parts coming to the car in Monaco. Maybe we've made progress, but we have to get back and see. Both cars were in the points, which is positive I suppose."
