- Jerez test
Vettel's second day cut short
Sebastian Vettel's second day of testing came to an early end on Tuesday after suffering an "energy store issue" with his Red Bull in the afternoon.
Vettel completed just eight laps to add to the three he managed on the first day of testing, but with two and half hours remaining on Wednesday the team called an end to his day. With no plans to alter Red Bull's schedule at the moment, it will mark the end of Vettel's first week of testing as Daniel Ricciardo is set to drive for the rest of the week.
It is also a concern for Renault Sport, who supply the power unit to the Red Bull. Compared to rivals Mercedes and Ferrari, Renault Sport-powered cars have completed very limited mileage, with Caterham missing another morning on Wednesday and Toro Rosso yet to emerge by 15:00. The Toro Rosso stopped on track on Tuesday with a software issue and Jean-Eric Vergne said the car had not been running smoothly on any of its 15 laps on the opening day.
Red Bull technical director Adrian Newey blamed a "silly problem" overnight for Red Bull's lack of running on Tuesday morning, but with just 11 laps completed so far the team will be hoping for two better days with Ricciardo at the wheel.
