Raikkonen an option for Red Bull, but it's in no rush
Red Bull will not make a decision on who will replace Mark Webber until later in the season, but team principal Christian Horner has revealed that Kimi Raikkonen is on the team's wish list.
Webber will leave Formula One at the end of the year to race in World Endurance Championship for Porsche, leading to speculation over who will replace him. Raikkonen is among the favourites as his Lotus contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but Toro Rosso drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo are also in the running.
However, in a press release the team said: "The decision on who will replace Webber will not be made until later in the season."
Team principal Christian Horner was quoted by the Daily Telegraph on Thursday saying: "We're in the fortunate position that there are an awful lot of people who would like to drive a Red Bull racing car."
On the possibility of Raikkonen joining he said: "Kimi would have to be an option if he were to be available.
"Our focus has always been based on what they're doing in the car. Red Bull is a great environment for any driver - perhaps a bit more relaxed than some of the more corporate teams. Our focus is to get the best out of them as drivers and athletes and not bog them down with other clutter."
