Lotus 'looking good' - Grosjean
Romain Grosjean believes Lotus is strong in both wet and dry conditions ahead of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.
In a dry first session Grosjean was second fastest and then repeated that result in the changeable afternoon conditions. Having climbed through the field from 26th to fourth in the GP2 feature race at Monaco last year he is confident of delivering a strong performance for Lotus, and said that the team had found a good base setup even though its running had been limited.
"I think the car is suiting the track pretty well and I love Monaco, it's good to be here and it's nice to see so many fans," Grosjean said. "The car was looking good this morning and this afternoon - we are working in a good direction. Unfortunately it was a bit wet this afternoon and we couldn't do all the programme we wanted to achieve but as we have a good baseline it shouldn't be such a big deal. Let's see what the weather will be like [on Saturday] and what we can achieve. I think that we are looking good in both conditions."
Grosjean did admit he would have liked to have run the option tyre, but said the car usually reacts well to the faster rubber without changes.
"I couldn't try the supersoft which may be the only bad point of the day, but in the end normally our car is good when we change the tyre because we keep the same handling. So hopefully that's going to be the case here, we're going to put the supersoft on in P3 to see what it gives. But then it was good as well to do a few laps on the wet (tyres) to see which patches we can use, which white lines and kerbs are dangerous, so it was good."
