Lewis Hamilton was forced in to a u-turn on Twitter on Sunday night after initially accusing team-mate Jenson Button of a lack of respect.

Button followed Sergio Perez on Twitter when it was announced that Perez would be his team-mate in 2013, with Hamilton not listed as a driver that Button follows. Having been accused of unfollowing Hamilton, Button replied with "Never followed him... Makes a story though!!"

Hamilton, however, appeared not to have seen that tweet when he took to Twitter on Sunday, saying: "Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn't.

"Funny thing is, we are STILL teammates! All good tho, I plan on giving this team & fans all I got til I cross the finish line in brazil!!!"

When realising his error, Hamilton was quick to admit his mistake.

"My bad, just found out Jenson never followed me. Don't blame him! Need to be on Twitter more!"
