Felipe Massa sees no reason why Ferrari would not offer him a new contract in 2013 if he continues to perform as he did at the British Grand Prix.

His fourth-place finish at Silverstone was his best of the season, but after a difficult start there are suggestions that he will be replaced when his contract runs out next year. However, he is confident he is now on top of the early-season problems and sees no reason why continued improvement would not result in a longer stay at Ferrari.

"I think if I keep working like that and improving the car and working, I don't see a reason why not," he said.

When the question of keeping Massa for another season was posed to team principal Stefano Domenicali, he replied: "We have no rush. I'm happy to see that he was fourth, he was very unlucky in recent races. I think it's fantastic to see this that after a very difficult start and I hope that he will keep it up until the end."

Massa is confident he will continue to improve.

"I feel that there's more to come. In the last two races I couldn't get a result - in Canada because of my mistake and in the last race because of the problem I had in my car. I'm sure that from Monaco on the result could have been good at all these races. So I feel much more comfortable in the car, driving in the direction I like and I feel there's a lot more to come. I think that's the direction we need to keep working in, to improve the situation at every race and making a different championship for myself, from now until the end of the season."
