Stefan GP has revealed that it will send equipment to Bahrain for the first grand prix of 2010, even though it hasn't been granted an entry for the upcoming season.
The Serbian-based outfit has bought Toyota's 2010 chassis design that the Japanese manufacturer put up for sale after it withdrew from the sport last year. It intends to test the car at the Portimao circuit in the Algarve from February 25-28, using a Toyota engine with technical support from the ex-F1 team.
The team said it would run two drivers at the test, one of which is expected to be Toyota-backed, ex-Williams driver Kazuki Nakajima. It has also released a photo of its management team in which McLaren's former chief designer Mike Coughlan, who left the sport after his involvement in the Spygate affair, appeared.
Stefan GP said its intention to test and attend the first race was an indication of how serious its operation is.
