Wurz returns as Williams mentor

Alex Wurz has returned to Williams as a driver mentor to Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna.
Wurz spent four years with Benetton before moving to McLaren as a reserve driver, before regaining a race seat with Williams in 2007. He has enjoyed much success racing sportscars, however, and won the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours driving for Peugoet. He has now taken on the role of driver mentor and will begin working with the team at the Barcelona test this week before traveling with Williams to every race.
With Williams boasting a driver line-up with just 45 grand prix starts between them, Wurz said he was looking forward to helping Maldonado and Senna deliver consistently.
"This is a great initiative by Williams and highlights just how hard the team is pushing to optimise its performance," Wurz said. "Throughout my career as a sportsman, which started at the age of 12 in BMX racing, includes over a decade in Formula One and is still ongoing (racing in the World Endurance Championship), I am lucky to have gained so much experience.
"I grew up in a family business of driver training and naturally I enjoy helping fellow athletes to operate at their best. I'm really looking forward to using my expertise to help Williams at this important stage in its history."
