Nico Rosberg dominated the final practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix as Mercedes once again topped the timesheets with its two cars.

Rosberg was 0.869s faster than team-mate Lewis Hamilton, although Hamilton's attempt at a fast run on medium tyres coincided with double waved yellow flags as marshals recovered Max Chilton's car at Turn 5. Rosberg's time underlined the advantage Mercedes has again this weekend, with 1.301s to Fernando Alonso in third place in the Ferrari. Williams' Felipe Massa was just 0.035s off his old team-mate in fourth before a 0.4s gap to Romain Grosjean in the resurgent Lotus.

McLaren's Kevin Magnussen was sixth fastest ahead Daniel Ricciardo, the fastest Red Bull, who was 1.921s off Rosberg's time. Jenson Button and Pastor Maldonado were over two seconds off Rosberg, with Sebastian Vettel tenth quickest as he tried to make up for lost time following two missed practice sessions on Friday due to an electrical issue. After a more positive showing on Friday, Kimi Raikkonen could only manage the 14th fastest time on Saturday morning and was 1.2s off team-mate Alonso.

Several drivers pushed the limits during the session and put two wheels on the grass, but Chilton was the only one to find a gravel trap and not come back out. He locked up and ran wide at Turn 5, with his Marussia skittering over the gravel before beaching itself short of the barriers. Kamui Kobayashi also had an off-track moment towards the end of the session when he ran wide at Turn 7.
