Loose wheels set to result in 10-place grid penalty
Teams are set to be hit by a 10-place grid penalty if a car is released without having all four wheels properly attached.
Pit lane safety has been high on the agenda following the incident in Germany which saw an FOM cameraman injured by a wheel that had not been secured on Mark Webber's car. Following the clampdown on media in the pit lane, the latest suggestion is that teams will be penalised more severely for the error.
Previously teams had been fined for the unsafe release of a car, but following a meeting of the team managers and the FIA in Hungary it has now been suggested that a loose wheel will result in the team receiving a ten-place grid penalty at the following race.
However, ESPN understands that the stricter penalty has yet to be approved and so at present will not be in place for the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
