Bahrain was a low point - Webber
Mark Webber is confident he can return to form at the upcoming races after two disappointing results in China and Bahrain.
Webber failed to finish in Shanghai and then struggled to seventh in Bahrain, dropping him 45 points off championship leader and Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel. He believes he was unlucky at both rounds and is confident he regain his form at the upcoming races.
"I'm looking to have Bahrain as my low point of the year, particularly as it came off the back of China which obviously was a tough weekend," he said. "It was going well until qualifying in China and in Bahrain I had a damaged floor in the race after damaging it on the exit of turn three early in the grand prix. That was my race pretty heavily compromised from there. I think it is a sensational opportunity starting from now.
"There have been missed points but I've still got a few on the board. In the past I've won in Barcelona, won in Monaco, won at Silverstone, won at the Nurburgring and won in Budapest so I've got some good form coming up. You can talk about that but I've got to go and do it. It's still very early days in the championship and I'm looking to hit those middle steps and that's got to be the goal."
Pirelli is bringing a new hard compound tyre to the Spanish Grand Prix that should work in a wider range of temperatures, but Webber does not think that will offer a specific advantage to Red Bull.
"I think with any car if you are out of the window on these things the car is not working," he said when asked if the RB9 was particularly sensitive. "Whether we are more sensitive than other teams ... I don't think so. I think because you are towards the front and you're not on the pace people think you're in the s***.
"If it's Force India or something that drops from P6 to P10 then people don't notice. With us people might notice a bit more, but I think it's all relative and teams are pretty similar in terms of sensitivity."
