Pastor Maldonado is confident Williams can bounce back in India this weekend after a disappointing Korean Grand Prix two weeks ago, which he described as the team's worst performance of the year.

The Williams cars finished 14th and 15th in Korea after struggling for pace all weekend, but Maldonado said his team had been working overtime to figure out why.

"Many things didn't work in Korea and it was the worst race for us," he said. "There was nothing different [on the car] to the past, two races before we were on the front row in Singapore, so it's very difficult to understand why it doesn't work on a different track. We just need to keep calm and focused and try to optimise what we have.

"We've been working very hard, especially on the last race to figure out where the problems are. We've seen the problem and we're working on that and, for sure, I hope here will be much better than Korea for us. It will be difficult as well because all the teams have been pushing very hard and the gaps are very close to get into Q3. But this is our mission and we need to push hard and try to put the car in the top ten and then to be in the points would be perfect."

Maldonado said it was important for Williams to finish the season on a high after failing to live up to the car's potential this season.

"We need to try to work harder to try to get the best final result," he added. "The team is looking good for the future and I really hope to stay here next year and continue the project. I think I've done a good job this year and I think in the last four races we can recover some points, which would be great for us. We have great potential and the engineers are working so hard so I would like to recover some points before the end of the season."
