Austin track officially named
- Circuit of the Americas
The track that will host next year's United States Grand Prix has been officially named as the 'Circuit of the Americas'.
The announcement was made as the track promoters also revealed that the circuit would be hosting a MotoGP race from 2013 having signed a ten-year deal. With the first grand prix in Texas scheduled for next year, work on the site outside Austin began in January, and is expected to be completed by the middle of 2012 at a cost of $250 million.
Track promoter Tavo Hellmund said that the branding was intended to signify the multi-faceted potential of the development.
"We are building a destination for entertainment and business, not simply a race track, and this brand reflects that entire idea," Hellmund said.
