Tickets for the 2012 US Grand Prix in Austin next November will go on sale soon, with the organisers announcing a Select Seat Waiting List (SSWL).

"We are receiving great interest in tickets every day from fans around the world," said Geoff Moore, chief marketing and sales officer for Circuit of The Americas. "In order to effectively manage the demand, we have created a two-stage ticketing process to help fans better understand the opportunities available. We want every fan to get the ticket that is right and affordable for them. In this first stage, we are showing off the incredible entertainment experience our main grandstand offers."

From January 23 until February 13 fans can join the SSWL to be first in line to purchase a personal seat licence which will go on sale March 1, 2012. Personal seat licences will range in price from $1,000 to $5,000 per seat payable in two installments if desired, depending on proximity to the start/finish line and amenities. This licence entitles its holder to purchase tickets for all racing events at Circuit of The Americas for the next 15 years.

Select seating is focused on the main grandstand, which has approximately 9,000 seats in 26 rows. There is also expected to be high demand for the Turn 1 grandstand, which organisers claim features the clearest sightlines for the track's signature turn along with a view all the way to downtown Austin.

The area between Turns 15 and 16 is home to the track's Stadium Section grandstands. These seats will see the most up-close racing action and are located near the Grand Plaza, which features the highest concentration of food, beverage and merchandise amenities.

$1000 - $5000 "Personal Seat License"... What a joke! Normal F1 fans will never be able to afford a decent seat in Austin. Who wants to go to Texas anyway? Hot and nasty. Bring back the USGP at Indy. Seats were affordable and it was the largest attended race in the entire F1 calendar. Bernie totally screwed US F1 fans by killing the Indy GP. Oh, and just wait until F1 comes to Jersey right next to Manhattan. Suddenly every fasionista will be an F1 fan and ticket prices will be INSANE.

Austin Texas really trying to do something unique over there.

And all the seats in the main grandstand will go to the same company selling them, associates and some particulars, making buying good seats impossible for the next 15 years unless one wants to pay 3 times what they were originally worth. Another hit of the american sports mafia.

I sure hope the start/finish tickets at CoA is better than they were at Indy. I had tickets to the inaugural F1 race at Indy very close to S/F, they problem was that the seats were below the concrete barrier! All you could see was the airbox of the car going by! We scalped them after watching practice and bought seats in section 'J' which was by far the best viewing at Indy.
