Coletti reveals upcoming Toro Rosso test
GP2 driver Stefano Coletti has revealed he will make his Formula One debut at the upcoming Young Driver Test with Toro Rosso, although the team has yet to confirm the news.
Coletti won two races in the feeder series this year before an accident at Spa Francorchamps fractured two of his vertebrae and forced him onto the sidelines for the rest of the season. The Monegasque was member of the Red Bull junior team from 2007 to 2008 but still carries Red Bull sponsorship on his helmet.
"I'm happy to finally announce that I'll be testing with Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi," Coletti tweeted on Wednesday. "On My way to the Toro Rosso headquarters. Going to make my seat [fitted] and meet all the guys."
On Thursday he added: "Had a really good day yesterday in Toro Rosso today … to do a bit of simulator for Abu Dhabi and then back home tonight!"
The Young Driver Test will take place the week after this year's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from November 15 to 17 and exists to give drivers with less than three grands prix of experience a chance to drive a contemporary F1 car. Also confirmed to take part in the test so far are Jean-Eric Vergne at Red Bull, Jules Bianchi at Ferrari, Sam Bird at Mercedes, Mirko Bortolotti at Williams having won the F2 championship, Fabio Leimer at Sauber and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs at Virgin.
Coletti will also drive for Coloni at the GP2 season final in Abu Dhabi the weekend before the Young Driver Test after being confirmed alongside Kevin Ceccon. Coletti drove for Coloni at the recent GP2 test in Barcelona but spent the rest of the 2011 season at Trident.
