Team owner Dietrich Mateschitz has promised there will be no team orders at Red Bull this season and sees no reason why Mark Webber can't challenge Sebastian Vettel this year.

After a close battle in 2010, Vettel dominated the 2011 season with 11 victories to Webber's one. There were signs of team orders when Webber was told not to attack Vettel towards the end of the British Grand Prix, but he ignored the radio call regardless.

Red Bull boss Mateschitz said neither driver would be favoured this year.

"Our attitude has not changed - there are no team orders," he told Kleine Zeitung newspaper. "It starts at zero again, for both of them."

As for which Red Bull driver will get the upper hand in 2012, Mateschitz is open minded.

"From today's point of view it is difficult to say. But why not [Webber]? I'm curious to know how hard or difficult or impossible it will be for Vettel to defend his dominance."

Based on the initial Jerez test, however, he said it is too early to say if the RB8 will be as dominant as last year.

"These tests are not to scale," said Mateschitz. "Everyone drives with their own goals and plans or to meet certain criteria. But I do think the balance of power has stayed about the same."

Silverstone 2011 anyone? anyway, I would love to see Webber joins Alonso at Ferrari, they look brotherly don't they?

But of course! Same as there are no team orders at Ferrari, McClaren, Lotus (Renault), Sauber & Mercedes. Probably the only teams without team orders are the bottom 6 runners, as their drivers are all equally talented. Dietrich, the whole world knows that Seb sells, not (unfortunately) Mark.

The quid is Adrian Newey Master Designer, he could flunk this season but again he won't 'd love to see Niko or Fernando on one of his chassis (Renault/Ferrari/Mercedes) He's a crack!

Vettle won the monza race in car that if my memory is correct was built or a least based on the redbull car and not developed by toro rosso alone which has been the case since 09. With the 09 car onwards vettle would not have had a chance to win. So i find it wrong when ppl roll that one out. You could say well Webber came 6th i think it was in his first race for Minardi. But just leave out the fact half the field crashed or dropped out. I think Webber now he has a grasp on the tyres will be much better this year. I think he can beat vettle. Vettle is on a high that cannot last forever. He will make mistakes and then you weill watch the rollleracoaster effect come in to play. All drivers have them.

What are you guys talking about? Haven't seen so much drivle in a comments section in months. Building a car to suit someone over somebody else? LOL. That RB car was a evolution of the 2009 car. Plus, that RB car handled like a dream. It had so much grip, it ripped the asphalt. You have to really suck as a driver not to be able to drive that car to the max. Webber's problem was with the Pirelli tyres, he admitted that himself. And he wasn't the only one.

the best moment red bull team has shown was when they two collided in turkey.

oh yeah? and who believes that?

Posted by   on (February 14 2012, 15:11 PM GMT)

referring to an earlier post... Vettel's first year at RBR was NOT 2010 but was 2009 (duh) and he had a season and a half at toro rosso, where he won the rain soaked monza race of 08.. (i'm just saying)

Vettel was well ahead last year in the points when Webber was told to "hold station" instead of attempting a pass. I don't see things changing this year.
