Vettel only getting better - Horner
Vettel took his ninth win of the season with another dominant display in Singapore, which means his worst result of the year remains a fourth place in Germany. Horner told the official Formula One website that he his age means Vettel is constantly improving, and that he has been most impressed by his ability to answer the critics.
"He is getting better with every bit of experience that he gains," Horner said. "I was particularly impressed with how he showed his critics how the wind blows. All those who always claimed that he's not a real racer but somebody who prefers to bag points had to rub their eyes after seeing his courageous overtaking of Alonso in Monza. Right now he's the driver who sets the pattern. He's got immense speed and breath-taking consistency."
When asked what makes Vettel so good, Horner said it was a combination of factors that have changed over the past 12 months.
"Firstly, because we've grown as a team and have learnt from our mistakes from last year, and secondly because the title win boosted Sebastian's self-confidence significantly. He knows now what he is capable of and builds on that."
Having praised Vettel, Horner also said that he felt his team-mate Mark Webber was being "undervalued".
"Well, he's still motivated enough to beat anybody except Sebastian... And it seems all too convenient to underestimate Mark when comparing him against Seb. But that is definitely a huge mistake. Mark is undervalued right now."
