Red Bull to stick with F-duct in Valencia
Red Bull Racing has decided to use its F-duct for the remainder of the European Grand Prix weekend following positive results from Friday's free practice sessions, according to AUTOSPORT.
The team first introduced the drag-reducing device at the Turkish Grand Prix but decided not to run it in the race due to some teething problems. It has been in development since, and the revised version debuted without any problems in Valencia's Friday practice sessions.
"We had a good Friday programme with no interruptions and evaluated the tyres and the F-duct which we will look into - as we all know it's not without its challenges getting that thing working," said Mark Webber, who finished Friday's session third fastest.
The data produced by the F-duct during Friday practice was positive and both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel will continue using it for qualifying and the race in Valencia.
Earlier in the weekend both Webber and team-mate Sebastian Vettel said they would welcome the straight-line speed boost and the ability to use more downforce that having the F-duct allows.
"We all know what advantage you get and, if someone offers you half a second, you would we stupid to say no," said Vettel.
