Red Bull's Mark Webber has denied that he has plans to retire at the end of the year, after Lewis Hamilton saying he would not be surprised if the 33-year-old called it a day after this season.

Hamilton said that he got "the sense" Webber might choose to retire if he had a successful campaign this year.

"He has the best chance to end on that high this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he is considering it," said Hamilton.

But on Thursday Webber denied he was considering retirement and was not upset about Hamilton's comments.

"I have no intention of retiring whatever kind of season I have," he said. "It's Lewis' opinion and he's free to have that. I've not got a big problem with what he said. I'm very happy at the moment. It's a good situation for me."
