The Monaco Grand Prix has secured a deal to remain on the Formula One calendar for a further 10 years.
Despite being regarded as F1's blue riband event, the future of the race was called into question recently when Bernie Ecclestone said the sport could "do without" it. However, a statement on the Formula One website confirmed a new contract was in place, with the next grand prix scheduled on May 29, 2011.
The statement said: "Bernard Ecclestone and Michel Boeri [Automobile Club de Monaco president] met today in London and have agreed to extend the contract between Formula One Administration Limited and Automobile Club de Monaco for a further 10 years."
