Michael Schumacher has criticised Pirelli's tyres once again, likening the 2012 rubber to driving "on raw eggs".

Having spoken out against the tyres following the Bahrain Grand Prix, Schumacher found support for his comments in short supply as team-mate Nico Rosberg backed Pirelli and the tyre manufacturer itself responded. When asked by CNN what the reasons were for such a competitive season this year, Schumacher initially pointed to aerodynamic restrictions before again voicing his displeasure with the tyre situation.

"The other point that I'm not too keen about is these tyres," Schumacher said. "I just think they are playing much too big an effect, because they are so peaky and so special that we don't put the cars or ourselves to the limit. We drive like we're on raw eggs and don't want to stress the tyres at all otherwise you just overdo it and you go nowhere."

Speaking about the season as a whole, Schumacher said his first aim was to finish on the podium having yet to do so for Mercedes.

"We have luckily got one win under our belt. We got a bit unlucky in that race - it could have been a one-two, without doubt - but it proves that we have made a huge step. You have to consider where we have come from; last year wasn't really what we were looking for. Starting the Silver Arrows new generation, for two years we had medium success and finally we managed a victory. I'm pretty sure we can have other good races this year, being on the podium and maybe even being on top of the podium."
