Button keen for more on-track scraps with Hamilton
The McLaren duo fought hard over second place, which was crucial at that stage of the race in order to be in the best possible position ahead of the final pit stops. Hamilton eventually passed on the inside of turn one and went on to win the race, overtaking Nico Rosberg, Felipe Massa and Sebastian Vettel before the chequered flag.
Despite losing out in China, Button is hoping to take the fight to Hamilton again at the Turkish Grand Prix in three weeks' time - the same circuit where he attempted to pass Hamilton for the lead last season after the Red Bull drivers had taken each other out.
"I feel very positive going to Turkey," Button was quoted by the Guardian. "Lewis and I had a real ding-dong there. We've had a couple this year, so hopefully it will be the same there. If we do it means we are both competitive. I just hope we'll be doing it in front of the Red Bulls and won't make the same mistake they did."
Button led off the grid at the Chinese Grand Prix but his race started to unravel when he mistakenly drove into the Red Bull pit box for his first tyre change. Nevertheless, he congratulated Hamilton on his victory which Button believes will motivate the team during the three-week gap ahead of Turkey.
"For me, it wasn't a perfect race, but Lewis did a really great job and I think that helps with the motivation for the team," he said. "I think the team will be very happy. Not just the guys here but those back at the factory. They have got a few weeks now to really work on a few developments for Turkey and there will be such a buzz, the excitement of building a car that can really fight the Red Bulls."
