The FIA will wait until McLaren arrives in Bahrain before examining its rear-wing design. The news comes after the FIA's technical delegate Charlie Whiting failed to visit McLaren's headquarters on Friday as expected after being delayed in Brazil.

The row over the legality of the design, with air reportedly channelled through a 'slot' to increase straight-line speed, was revealed earlier this week by Christian Horner, who said Ferrari was also seeking a clarification.

"We've been in contact with Charlie over a period of several months to check that it complies with regulations," said McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh, who is also a spokesman for the FIA. "We've been assured that it does."

The FIA is not believed to be worried about the design.
