Marussia will miss the final test in Barcelona after failing its final FIA crash test with its new car.

The team had originally planned on launching the MR01 in time for the second pre-seasont test but delays meant the launch was pushed back until this week. Marussia has now confirmed that the car has failed the 18th and final FIA crash test, meaning that it will not be allowed to participate in testing between March 1-4. A statement from the team said that it "will instead focus its efforts on repeating the crash test at the end of the week".

Marussia ran the 2011 car at Barcelona last week to give Charles Pic mileage and gain an understanding of the new Pirelli tyres, but it now won't be present for the final test ahead of the Australian Grand Prix on March 18.

New regulations brought in for this season require the teams to pass all of the FIA crash tests in order for their chassis to be homologated ahead of testing. Previously the cars were not required to pass all crash tests in order to participate in the pre-season tests.

Great, another roadblock for the frontrunners!

Question?? Teams such as Marussia and HRT are currently so far off the pace with no kers package onboard "would it not be fiscally prudent to modify last years car with focus on packaging of components to eventually incorporate the kers and not spend money on a whole new car? Could this savings be used in 2013 to add a KERS unit? They are not going to be displacing the top 3 teams overnight with brand new cars every year. Seems to me the are running in quicksand. If the focus on improving hydraulics, rear packaging, suspensions, DRS wing and the necessary accomodations to satify rule changes would this not prove a more viable long term plan that would come to fruition sooner? Focus on what you have and make it better progressively and maybe in 3 years time the midfield pack is attainable.

I wonder how much money they spend trying to fix this issue.

Looks like Marussia is competing with HRT to take the honors for the worst team in F1!!

Marussia has shown that they clearly should not be in F1 they haven't got what it takes to be there they are lacking money and everything else that makes up an F1 team to fail crash tests time and time again is unexceptable they will go into to Melbourne with no testing at all its a disgrace to the sport
