This month we ask our light-hearted 20 questions to Lotus' chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne. He tells us about his love of sailing and which former prime minister he would like to invite to dinner.

What is your favourite item of clothing?
It has to be my shorts.

What goes through your mind during the last lap of a race?
Oh for God's sake please don't stop.

Who is your hero and why?
Barnes Wallis - he was the most amazing inventor.

If we asked your best friend to describe you - what would they say?
He's a short, fat and bald.

What do you do to relax?
I love to cook - my favourite thing to make is the perfect Sunday roast with all the trimmings.

What is your most treasured possession?
Silvi [his partner] and the kids - I know they are not possessions strictly, but they are the most important things in my life.

Oversteer or Understeer - Choose?
I think it would have to be oversteer.

Where is your dream holiday destination?
Anywhere in the world as long as I am sailing.

What is the most you have ever spent on a pair of shoes?
Not very much at all - I don't consider them something worth spending money on.

What is your worst habit?
Snoring.

If you could invite three famous people to dinner who would they be and why?
Wow that's hard; I would have to have Winston Churchill for the banter, then Ian Botham to enjoy a good beer with, then Neil Armstrong.

If you hadn't made it to F1 what would you be doing now?
Sailing of course.

What is the first song on your iPod shuffle mode right now?
Probably Snow Patrol or something like that.

What was your first car?
It was a Renault 9, but I didn't have a car until I left university so I must have been about 27.

Are you a good passenger?
In a plane I am fine - I don't mind being a passenger in a car but I think I am probably a bit annoying as I get bored and want to drive.

What would you have for your last meal?
I wouldn't care to be honest - if it's your last then that's it isn't it.

What rule would you like to introduce into F1?
A budget cap, I would set it at £50million. I don't think here at Lotus we are operating very far from that at the moment, but saying that at Tyrrell in 1998 we were running the team for £19 million.

What quality do you most dislike in a person?
I hate people that lie to your face.

Who will win the drivers' championship in 2010?
It is really hard to call, but I think Sebastian Vettel could take it.

Who will win the constructors' championship?
If Adrian [Newey] hasn't made a major f**k up then the smart money is on Red Bull.
