Paul di Resta will face a five-place grid penalty from wherever he qualifies for the Italian Grand Prix after his team was forced to change his car's gearbox on Saturday.

Di Resta was third fastest in final practice and was confident after Friday's running, but is now facing a much tougher job on Sunday. Under the regulations gearboxes have to last five consecutive race weekends - Friday's running is separate - without being changed.

Meanwhile, Mercedes mechanics broke the FIA imposed curfew that limits work on the cars between Friday night and Saturday morning. However, each team is allowed to break the curfew four times during the course of the season and this was Mercedes' first time in 2012.
