Sebastian Vettel maintains that the FIA's technical clarification over engine maps is not as big a story as the media is making it out to be at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

On Thursday Vettel played down the significance of the change and after Friday practice said he had not noticed any difference in the car.

"There's a lot of talk, but if you knew what was going on in the background then you wouldn't be too interested in all the talking and the stuff that is getting printed in the last couple of days," he said. "Fortunately tomorrow there's a new newspaper and again the day after tomorrow and especially on Monday. We will focus on the race here and then try to make some good news on Monday."

Asked if he could talk about the background, Vettel added: "It's much less than what people expect. Surely if we had the choice we would go back to what we had in Hockenheim, but it's difficult for us as well to measure."

Vettel set the eighth fastest time in second practice, but explained that he did not complete a proper run on the soft tyres before the rain hit the circuit. However, he is not worried about his missing out on running the faster tyre in FP2.

"I don't think it's a big handicap. Some people did their runs, some people did not. On the other hand I think we got a decent run on the primes - two proper runs, which was important. I think we found a little bit there and all in all we need to find a little bit more for tomorrow as it looks to be quite tight. It's a short lap so I think it will be extremely tight in qualifying if it's dry and if it's damp or wet it's difficult [to predict]."
