Karthikeyan's focus still on F1
Narain Karthikeyan is looking to secure a future in Formula One and is not looking to other series for 2012.
Karthikeyan started 2011 with HRT but lost his seat to the Red Bull-backed Daniel Ricciardo at the British Grand Prix. He returned for a one-off appearance at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix, but with Colin Kolles having left HRT as the team moves towards a more Spanish makeup Karthikeyan's future is uncertain. Despite that, he says he is using the success of the Indian GP to secure new sponsors and is looking to secure a more long-term future in the sport.
"The race in Delhi has helped drivers like me connect to corporate India and we are now looking at a few options and trying to work out something although nothing seems finalised," Karthikeyan told The Times of India. "I'm not directly talking with other teams, as my management will handle that. I am focusing on other things for now."
With Kolles leaving HRT Karthikeyan said it was actually a good move for the team to attempt to create a new identity, even thought it could harm his chances of a seat.
"With a small team he did a good job. But now the team has a different direction and that's a good thing."
