Four cars from the failed HRT team have been sold to a Spanish company specialising in used racing parts, according to Associated Press, while a fifth has been bought by Pirelli.

Teo Martin, who runs a breaking company, has acquired three 2012 cars - minus the engines and gear boxes - as well as a 2011 car, a scale model of the 2012 car and most of the remaining garage equipment. Pirelli has purchased a 2011 car.

A Pirelli spokesman said the tyre manufacturer would show the car at promotional events after it had been repainted in the company's black and yellow colours.

At the end of January reports emerged that a group of American and Canadian investors were looking in to buying the defunct team but news the remaining assets have been sold would seem to signal the final end for HRT.
