  • October 9, 1977: Jody Scheckter won the Canadian Grand Prix, but with the world title secured by Niki Lauda seven days earlier, it was a hollow victory, especially given Lauda's absence at Mosport Park

  • Lauda secures second title as Hunt wins
  • October 2, 1977: James Hunt won the USA Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, his second victory of the season, but Niki Lauda's fourth place was enough to clinch his second world championship
