Paul di Resta has set a target of a podium finish for Force India in one of the races in 2012.

Following an encouraging debut season in which he scored 27 points and earned the title of best rookie, di Resta has been retained for a second year with the team. Although Force India's best result in 2011 was sixth place, it outpaced Mercedes on occasion and as the car improved throughout the season the team almost beat Renault in the constructors' championship.

However, it appears that the biggest moment of last year for di Resta was the $100m investment from Indian conglomerate Sahara Group which bought a 42.5% stake in the team in October. Di Resta said that he felt the added impetus would help move the team forward.

"It will be difficult but we have got ourselves prepared for a podium," di Resta told the Daily Express. "I see a bright future for the team and the partnership with Sahara will help to make our facilities better and give us a better car."
