- German Grand Prix - Qualifying
Liuzzi optimistic despite crash
Tonio Liuzzi is optimistic he can still have a good race despite crashing out of qualifying for the German Grand Prix.
Liuzzi spun off and hit the barrier just six minutes into Q1, meaning he will start the race from 21st once a gearbox penalty has been issued to Timo Glock ahead of him. He started the British Grand Prix 20th a fortnight ago and still had a good race, and is hopeful of a repeat performance.
"I wasn't hurt [by the accident], but it's such a shame as we lost the qualifying and now have to start far down the grid," he said. "We can still make up some places as we showed in the last race in Silverstone where I came back to 11th and under a second from the points, so the race pace is very strong - let's see what we can do."
Speaking about the accident itself, he said he had been caught out by a hidden puddle.
"I had had a good couple of laps but then I hit a wet patch on the kerb or on the grass that wasn't visible from the track and it then started the accident," he said. "I lost the rear and was pushed out quite strongly across the track and into the wall."
