  • July 20, 1968: Popular Swiss driver Jo Siffert scored his maiden victory at the British Grand Prix driving a Lotus 49 run by the privateer Rob Walker, who had backed Stirling Moss in the past.

  • July 7, 1968: Jacky Ickx won the French Grand Prix, and in so doing cemented his position in the Ferrari team, but yet again the day was overshadowed by the death of a driver, Jo Schlesser.
