Misunderstanding caused outburst - Alonso
After the Hungarian Grand Prix, an article on the Ferrari website referenced Montezemolo's unhappiness at comments made by Alonso in Budapest, although it didn't specifically explain which comments Montezemolo was referring to. Asked in Belgium to put the record straight on what the repercussions had been, Alonso replied: "Nothing really.
"I think it was the wrong information coming to the president to be honest because we looked back through all the press conferences. Now in these days with the recorders etc. it's easy to check exactly what you say and obviously it was nothing different to any other grand prix. There was nothing different in the team and I tried to push for the team and for our performance.
"He's the father of this family, of Ferrari, he's a great motivator, he's a man that put everyone in the team in the clear side and tells us exactly what he expects from us and what he wants from us."
Alonso also said that Montezemolo had not asked him about the reports linking him with a move to Red Bull next season.
"I think the president is a very intelligent man to separate what is a rumour and what is true, so he never asked me anything. We both have many years in Formula One now and we know what the summer break means in terms of rumours etc. So there were never questions and as I said, he's the man that has helped all of us to keep our heads down, our feet on the ground and our commitment to the team."
