Former team owner turned TV pundit Eddie Jordan believes that Serbian outfit Stefan Grand Prix will compete at the first race of the season in Bahrain.

"My understanding is that they will be in Bahrain with Jacques Villeneuve driving," Jordan told the BBC.

The 1997 world champion Villeneuve has not raced in F1 since he lost his seat at BMW-Sauber in 2006. He reportedly visited Toyota's Cologne HQ, which has been taken over by Stefan GP, on Monday for a seat fitting.

Jordan says that Stefan GP, which does not have an official entry, will take the place on the grid currently reserved for US F1. That team, which has admitted it will not be able to enter the championship until 2011, was recently visited by the FIA's Charlie Whiting amid fears its entry might be revoked.

US F1 backer Chad Hurley - the chief executive and co-founder of YouTube - was also linked by Jordan to switch his support to Stefan GP, despite the sponsorship also being linked to another struggling team in Campos.
