Bernie Ecclestone has said that the French Grand Prix could be added to the 2013 calendar.

Following the postponement of the Grand Prix of America in New Jersey until 2014 there is now a vacant slot on next season's calendar between the Canadian and British grands prix. When asked if Formula One could race in France next season, Ecclestone replied: "We can do.

"If they are ready, we can slot it in the calendar ... As far as I'm concerned, yes. I'm hoping … we're ready to sign, we've got a pen and we're ready to sign."

Ecclestone admitted that funding for the race and the location were still question marks, having confirmed that Paul Ricard was only one option.

"Which circuit is going to be used, where and who pays for it … that's the bottom line."
