Mark Webber is confident Red Bull has got a good starting point for its setup ahead of the Korean Grand Prix this weekend but said there is still work to do ahead of qualifying.

Webber finished Friday practice session in second place behind team-mate Sebastian Vettel and 0.3s clear of Fernando Alonso in third. But he said the team still had work to do over night to optimise the setup across the circuit's three distinct sectors.

"We had a pretty good programme set out and we both managed to get the best out of it," he said. "We'll look at where we can improve tonight, it's always a compromise at a track like this with high speeds in the first sector and then the last sector where the track is pretty twisty in terms of rhythm. We've got to learn what the tyres need a little bit more and also look at the long run performance from both of us. We both managed to get quite a lot of laps on the options so we'll analyse that tonight."

Several drivers noted the amount of dust on the circuit in first practice, but Webber said the conditions were no worse than some other circuits on the calendar.

"I was surprised the track was as good as it was and we've had worse venues on a Friday, to be honest. We were straight down to a couple of seconds off qualifying last year at the end of FP1 and the cars are generally a bit slower this year. For sure, the first lap wasn't great but the cars are very sensitive and we can't get too precious about a bit of dust on the track.

"The track will change, but it's not our first grand prix so we will be ready for that. Hopefully we can stay ahead of the game and have a smooth run again tomorrow and then a smooth run on Sunday. We had runs like this in Suzuka but only one of us got the job done so I'm looking forward to Sunday."
