- Gerhard Gribkowsky trial
Ecclestone finances under the spotlight
The Serious Fraud Office is speaking to the German authorities before deciding whether to launch an investigation into Bernie Ecclestone following the conviction of German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky last week.
Gribkowsky was jailed by a Munich court for taking money from Ecclestone during the sale of a stake in Formula One.
It is also believed HM Revenue & Customs has looked at the case and now Ecclestone faces further investigation in Munich and possibly in London.
Ecclestone has not denied making payments totalling $44 million but has always claimed they were designed to stop Gribkowsky making "vindictive" accusations about his family trust.
On Sunday Ecclestone denied reports he might not attend the German Grand Prix later this month. "Of course I'm going to Hockenheim," he told German magazine Focus.
