Lotus hit by hospitality fire
Lotus has its preparations for qualifying in Malaysian disrupted after a fire in its hospitality building in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The team announced that the fire broke out at 03:00 local time as a result of a blown fuse on a fridge in the temporary structure. The whole ground floor was ablaze, but fortunately due to the time the fire occurred there were no team members present and as a result nobody was hurt in the incident.
Losses were limited to food and drink, some marketing equipment and one of Kimi Raikkonen's spare race helmets.
The team has now moved to another temporary facility at the far end of the paddock, with the purpose-built pit building having capacity for more than 12 teams.
