Abu Dhabi Grand Prix organisers are hoping the FIA will amend the 2010 calendar to make their race the season finale.

Abu Dhabi's inaugural race was the last grand prix of 2009 and was considered to be a great success by the Formula One community. However, the Brazilian Grand Prix has been scheduled as the final round of 2010, having held the title decider at Interlagos this year.

"We feel that we deserve to be last race and I'm sure they feel they deserve to be last," Richard Cregan told Reuters at the motorsport business forum in Monaco. "I think the final slot for us is very important in terms of the grand prix as an overall event. With the destination we have in Abu Dhabi, it means that people will hopefully come there to the last event at the end of the season and then take some holiday with their families. It would be good for us to have that."

The addition of a South Korean Grand Prix in 2010 means there will be five races outside Europe between late September and mid November. There are rumours suggesting the new circuit in the Far East may be behind schedule but, even without the extra round, the busy schedule will put extra strain on the teams as they move their equipment from circuit to circuit. Cregan added that the tight turnaround at the end of the 2010 season would make it difficult to hold the final race in Abu Dhabi but not impossible.

"I think it's a logistics issue in terms of how you are moving the teams and freight around the world," he said. "We'll have to wait and see."
