Rumours of a possible Formula One comeback by former world champion Michael Schumacher continue to do the rounds with him now being flagged as a possible partner to Nico Rosberg at Mercedes.

Unlikely as a return might be, Schumacher continues to fuel speculation by refusing to rule it out. To date, his only comment has been a simple "who knows?".

Asked by the Times for his view, Bernie Ecclestone said: "I would personally doubt that he's going to make a comeback but, having said that, it's maybe getting a bit stronger than a rumour. If I was Michael I wouldn't do it, but I'm sure he knows he could get the job done."

As always, with an eye on revenues he admitted Schumacher's return would be "magic", adding: "You saw the interest he created when he was going to come back after Felipe Massa had his accident."

Last July Schumacher had agreed to return to Ferrari to stand in for Massa, and ticket sales for the, previously under subscribed, Belgian Grand Prix began to sell at the rate of one per minute. However his plans were short-lived when he was forced to withdraw when an old neck injury was found to be more serious than first thought.
