The FIA has condemned the leaking of Flavio Briatore's accusations that he was not given a fair hearing by the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) earlier this year. The Guardian revealed excerpts from Briatore's legal case against the FIA on Thursday claiming former FIA president Max Mosley was "blinded by an excessive desire for personal revenge".
The ex-Renault boss received an indefinite ban from motorsport in September for his part in fixing the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. Briatore is now seeking to annul that decision as well as asking for €1 million (US$1.5 million) in compensation at a new hearing in Paris on November 24.
However, the FIA has criticised the leak of information about the upcoming case and rebuffed Briatore's allegations.
"The FIA condemns the selective leaking of extracts from Mr Briatore's pleadings to the Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris," read the FIA statement. "The FIA rejects the allegations made in these leaks and confirms that the decision to impose a sanction against Mr Briatore was made by an overwhelming majority of the attending WMSC members.
"In respect for the authority of the French Court, it would be entirely inappropriate for the FIA to comment further on this matter in advance of the hearing."
