Fernando Alonso admitted that Ferrari maximised the potential of the car after he qualified third on the grid, over a second off the pace of pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel.

"I think we found there is a big gap between Red Bull and us this weekend already from practice and I think we maximised our potential and we did our job which is to be the 'best of the rest'," said Alonso. "They have dominated the weekend and they deserve this front row so hopefully tomorrow we can make it a difficult race for them because so far this weekend it has been too easy."

Despite his obvious concern about the pace of the Red Bulls, Alonso added that he has the opportunity to make life difficult for his rivals if he emulates his start to the German Grand Prix, where he went on to win.

"The start is important because we know Hungary. We know the track is very difficult to overtake and we know strategy will be very important as well. The first corner of the first lap will be maybe sixty to seventy percent of the final result so hopefully we can do as we did in Hockenheim last week and try to overtake positions and try to fight a little bit."
