Profile

Ignazio gained his competitive instinct in hill climbs in the mid-1960s and was soon elevated to racing sports cars. He joined the Ferrari Formula One line-up for 1970 alongside Jacky Ickx and Clay Regazzoni. He did enough to stay on for 1971, by finishing fourth at Spa, but he was killed in a freak accident in a sports car race at Buenos Aires when he hit Jean-Pierre Beltoise's stranded Matra.
