Profile

David Prophet, driving a privately-entered Brabham, took part in two South Africa Grand Prix in 1963 and 1965, failing to complete the first and finishing a distant 14th in the second. A regular winter migrant to southern Africa, he preceded his first appearance with a second-place finish in the Rhodesian Grand Prix. In 1964 competed in both Formula Two and Three in Great Britain, and continued to do so through to 1970 when he spent two season racing in Formula 5000. He was killed at Silverstone in 1981 when his personal helicopter crashed as he took off after watching a day's racing.
