An author, jeweller and jazz musician, Arthur Owen took part in the 1960 Italian Grand Prix in a privately-entered Cooper but he was forced to retire with suspension problems on the first lap. In 1962, Owen won the British Hill Climb Championship at the wheel of a Cooper-Climax T53.
