Profile
Tony Marsh came from a privileged background, and he cut his teeth in a Cooper-Jap in which he won the British Hillclimb Championship in 1955, 1956 and 1957. In 1957 he bought a Formula Two Cooper-Climax in which he entered the German GP, finishing 15th, also appearing in 1958 (8th) and 1961 (15th). He also took part in the 1961 British GP but was forced to retire after 26 laps. In 1962 he built his own vehicle and repeated his success in the British Hillclimb Championships with wins in 1965, 1966 and 1967. He drifted out of racing after that, although remaining active in a second series of British Hillclimb Championships in 1965, 1966 and 1967 but then sold the car and drifted away from racing to concentrate on engineering and farming. In 2007 he published an autobiographyTony Marsh: the great all-rounder: in and out of motorsport.
