Leslie Marr was a regular privateer in the early to mid 1950s in his Connaught, entering the British Grand Prix in 1954 and 1955 where he finished 13th on his first attempt and was forced to retire with breaking problems the following year. In 1955 he won the non-Championship 1955 Cornwall MRC Formula One Race, and finished fourth in the New Zealand Grand Prix the following year.

In 1954 he played himself in Mask of Dust, a film about a grand prix driver which also featured Stirling Moss and Reg Parnell. An accomplished artist, Marr took up painting in Palestine in World War Two and has exhibited extensively.
