Profile
Lee Wallard has the best career win percentage of any driver, winning one of the two FIA World Championship races he competed in. That came at the 1951 Indianapolis 500 when he led for 159 of the 200 laps and became the first driver to break the four-hour barrier. Four days after his win he was badly burned in an accident in a sprint car in Reading, Pennsylvania and was forced to retire from racing. He tried to test at Indianapolis in 1952 and 1954 but found he was no longer capable of competitive driving.
