Dani Clos joins the HRT team as test driver for the 2012 Formula One season after impressing in the Abu Dhabi young drivers' test at the Yas Marina Circuit following the conclusion of the 2011 season.

Like many successful Formula One drivers, Clos followed the convention path to the pinnacle of the sport through karting, progressing through the Spanish Formula Junior series before dominating the Formula Renault 2.0 Italia series in 2006.

Successive seasons in the Formula Three Euroseries and Formula Renault 3.5 Series followed before Clos joined the GP2 series in 2009 for Racing Engineering. 2010 marked his most successful season, winning the sprint race in Turkey and collecting four podiums on the way to fourth in the championship.
